The Vine Design by Gina is a compilation of many creative projects, including artwork, writing, and graphic design.
I grew up in Park City, Utah, where I developed a love for the outdoors and the American West. I majored with an honors degree in English from the University of Utah, and studied English literature at Trinity College Dublin.
I lived in Oxford, where I worked at a school for girls, and I spent some time writing in Florence. Many Oxfordian writers have influenced and inspired my fantasy works, including J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Lewis Carroll, Philip Pullman, and Susanna Clarke.
Returning to Central California, where my family had moved, I worked in the wine industry. Talking to people from all walks of life, from around the world, satisfied my extroverted personality. While living on the Central Coast, which is as close to paradise as you can get, I fell in love.
When I moved with my fiancé to the L.A. area for his medical school, I flirted with the idea of teaching. I had my minor in Education from the U of U, had been a substitute teacher, and was TEFL certified. I got a job as a supervising coordinator for an after-school program. I’ve never felt as immense a relief as when I threw away my MA application, and made the decision to pursue my creative interests.
These days, I focus primarily on novel writing. My writing mascot is my pup, Hobbes. I also create art, and have undertaken several graphic design projects.
